“We look at the pictures and immediately we’re transported back in time to those special moments and relive all the feelings! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Mark for creating a miracle of a wedding story for us, you’re truly amazing!”

Oh my God! I have to start this post by saying this was such an amazing wedding for many reasons! Not only are Barbara and Terry the most beautiful and lovely people who have the most amazing friends and family you could ever wish to meet, but The Inn on the Lake is such an epic venue! Having photographed proposals here in the past, it was my first time photographing a wedding and I have to say, I'm already looking forward to returning to photographing more Lake District weddings soon!

Barbara and Terry reached out to me around six months before their big day, they were actually referred to me by another photographer and friend of mine who couldn't accommodate their date due to a previous booking. We chatted over social media for some time - Barbara knew how she wanted their special day to be, she had a strong vision and it was really important to her that the photographer they chose was easy to get on with, had spare batteries, spare cameras (I reassured her that I carry 4 with me to a wedding - no I don't use them all at once!), and could create some sunset photos in the pavilion. I couldn't promise the sunshine but I could promise all of things wanted and that we could light the pavilion up with flash if we didn't get the desired sunset.

Leading up to the big day, we had really warm weather and bright sunshine all week but when Barbara and Terry's day came, the sun had gone on holiday and it was surprisingly cold for the time of year - this coupled with quite a lively breeze rolling in off Ullswater, made our time outside a little uncomfortable! Nevertheless, everyone embraced it, the outside ceremony that was planned went ahead, and the small threat of rain that was forecast didn't happen! :)

Here are some of my favourite photos from the day.

Barbara got ready at Inn on the Lake with her bridesmaids and family - such an incredibly relaxed atmosphere. Terry and the lads were getting ready in the room next door.

Barbara's father who was walking up the aisle with her, headed up to catch the first look

Terry excitedly waited at the end of the aisle, and we had the most beautiful ceremony where the sun briefly peeked out from behind the heavy clouds. There was not a dry eye left in the house!

Special guests then arrived to do a few wedding tricks......

Barbara and Terry had organised a handful of group photos but their guests had other ideas! I assertively worked my way through their list before accommodating guest's requests. The look on Barbara's face was priceless...we joked about it afterwards and she said the look on my face was the same! Needless to say, we got through it and everyone stayed happy! Here's just a few of them....

Following the group photos, I stole Barbara and Terry for a quick couples shoot by the lake - quite often I'll do this earlier in the day just in case the weather doesn't play fair or things don't go according to plan.

I then grabbed some photos of the beautiful table decorations and details before the guests decimated the room and the speeches took place. Barbara's parents and many of the guests were Hungarian, so the speeches were interesting, to say the least!

We then embarked on a scenic Lake District cruise with the breathtaking backdrop of Helvellyn adding an awe-inspiring touch to the entire experience. We were fortunate to enjoy the last light of the evening where the sun tried its very hardest to break through the heavy cloud, creating a captivating atmosphere for capturing unforgettable moments.

And as the day turned into night, we danced the night away, celebrating the newlyweds and their beautiful love story. I stole them for one last session in the pavilion before saying my farewells.

It was a day filled with joy, romance, and the enchanting beauty of the Lake District. Barbara and Terry, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day; as always, I feel incredibly privileged to be able to share in and capture such beautiful moments. #lovemyjob
