Steph & Stuart’s Storrs Hall Elopement on Lake Windermere
Steph and Stuart kept things simple with a just for two elopement at Storrs Hall, right on the edge of Lake Windermere. Their ceremony was set for 1:30pm and ended up taking place down by the boathouse, right on the edge of the lake.

Storrs Hall is a great choice for smaller weddings like this. Everything is close together, so you don’t need to go anywhere to get a good mix of photos. You’ve got the gardens, the lakeside and the boathouse area, along with a few quieter spots tucked away, which makes it easy to keep things relaxed.
The ceremony at Storrs Hall
They went with the just for two ceremony, which suited the day perfectly. With it only being the two of them, it felt properly personal and stripped back in a good way.
The ceremony ended up taking place down by the boathouse, which worked really well for a day like this. It’s right on the water and feels a bit more tucked away, which suited the whole relaxed feel of the day.
Nothing felt overdone. It was just about the two of them being there and enjoying it.
Portraits around the grounds
After the ceremony, we kept things simple and just made the most of the grounds.
One of the shots they’d mentioned beforehand was down by the lake near the tower, so we headed there first. It’s always worth using when the conditions are right, although like most spots along Windermere it can be a bit exposed. On this day it worked well.
We also made time for a few quieter moments, including some close ups of their hands and rings, along with more candid shots of them just laughing together. Those tend to be the photos that feel the most natural when you look back at them.
The rest was just about moving around and using what was there. A mix of open views and more sheltered areas gave a nice bit of variety without needing to force anything.

Steph’s flowers were by Brackens of Bowness, and her hair was by Gemma Smith.
It all suited the day really well. Nothing over the top, just everything working together in a way that felt right for them.
