What to expect from your wedding photography

A clear guide to how I work and what happens next

Booking a wedding photographer can feel like a big decision, especially if you have never done this before. This page is here to explain how I work, what happens before, during and after your wedding, and how you will receive your photos. No surprises and no pressure.

Before the wedding

Getting to know each other

Once you get in touch, we will have a proper conversation about your plans. This can be over the phone, by email or on a video call if that suits you better. There is no script and no sales pitch. It is simply a chance to see if we are a good fit and to talk through what matters most to you.

I want to understand your day, your priorities and how photography fits into it, rather than forcing you into a fixed approach.

Your wedding day is not a photoshoot

It should feel natural

Every wedding is different and I work around your day, not the other way around. Some couples want very little direction, others appreciate gentle guidance. Both are fine. My approach is calm and unobtrusive. I keep an eye on what is happening and step in when needed, but for the most part I am observing and capturing moments as they unfold.

Pre wedding shoots

Optional but very helpful

If you choose to have a pre wedding shoot, we will arrange it at a time and place that feels right for you. These sessions are relaxed and easy going, with no pressure to pose or perform. It is a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera and to get used to how I work. Many couples tell me it helps them feel far more relaxed on the wedding day itself.

Final details

Around four weeks before your wedding I will send over a short questionnaire. This helps me gather timings, addresses and any key details I need to know.

This is also where we plan group photos if you want them, keeping things efficient so you can get back to enjoying your day rather than standing around for too long.

On the day

Blending in and capturing what matters

On your wedding day I am there to document the story as it happens. The big moments, the small moments and the ones you did not even realise were happening.

Good wedding photography is not about constant direction. It is about awareness, timing and understanding people. I am always watching for genuine interactions and meaningful details.

Keeping your photos safe

Multiple backups from the start

Your images are recorded to two memory cards at the same time while I am shooting. Once I am home, everything is backed up to multiple drives and secure storage. Your photos are treated with care from the moment they are taken.

Editing your images

Thoughtful and consistent

Editing is where your wedding story really comes together. I carefully select the strongest images and edit them in a natural and timeless way.

I remove distractions, adjust light and colour, and make sure everything feels cohesive. I will not include unflattering images or moments that do not add to the story of your day.

Your online gallery

Simple and easy to use

When your photos are ready you will receive a private online gallery. From here you can download your images, share them with friends and family, and order prints or albums if you wish.

I include a small discount for prints and albums as a thank you. This is time limited, so it is worth making use of it sooner rather than later.

Blog features

Sharing your wedding story

Some weddings are featured on my blog and social channels as part of my portfolio. This helps future couples understand what a real wedding day looks like and keeps my work current.

I am selective about what I share and only feature weddings that reflect my style and approach. The focus is always on telling the story of the day in a respectful and considered way.

After the wedding

Staying in touch

After your wedding I will check in to make sure everything arrived safely and to see how you are feeling about your photos.

I am always happy to help with albums, prints or advice later on. Your wedding photos are not just for now, they are something you will come back to for years.
