Engagement & Proposal Photographer in the Lake District

Whether you're newly engaged or planning to propose, a photoshoot in the Lake District is the perfect way to mark the moment. I specialise in relaxed, natural photography that tells your story in a way that feels genuine and unforced. No awkward posing. No pressure. Just you, your partner, and the stunning backdrop of the Lakes.

Lake District Engagement Photoshoots

An engagement shoot is a brilliant way to celebrate your relationship, whether you've just said "yes" or you're counting down to the big day. It's also a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding.

We'll take a gentle walk, stop for photos along the way, and explore some of the area's most beautiful spots. I’ll guide you naturally without making things feel staged or overly posed.

Popular engagement shoot locations include:

  • Tarn Hows
  • Blea Tarn
  • Rydal Water
  • Grasmere
  • Buttermere
  • Windermere
  • Derwentwater

Whilst I work mainly in the Lake District and Cumbria, If you have somewhere personal in mind, I’m always happy to travel.

Planning a Proposal in the Lake District?

If you’re thinking about popping the question in one of the most romantic places in the UK, I can help make it unforgettable — and discreetly capture the moment as it happens. Proposal shoots are carefully planned to fit your idea and location. I’ll work with you to figure out timing, light, and how to stay out of sight until the big moment. Afterwards, we can capture a few portraits to celebrate.

Favourite proposal spots in the Lake District include:

  • Orrest Head (easy walk with a huge view)
  • Blea Tarn (remote and peaceful)
  • Surprise View above Derwentwater
  • Walla Crag
  • The Temple of Heroes at Storrs Hall
  • The Claife Viewing Station Windermere
  • The jetties at Ullswater or Windermere at sunset

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should we book our proposal or engagement shoot?

It’s always best to book as early as possible, especially for popular seasons in the Lake District. Ideally, a few months before your planned session will give us enough time to choose the best locations and timings, but I can work with shorter notice if needed!

Do you offer surprise proposal photography?

Yes! Surprise proposals are one of my favourite things to photograph. If you’re planning a surprise, we’ll discuss all the details in advance so I can be in the perfect spot to capture the moment without being noticed.

How long will the photoshoot last?

On average, an engagement or proposal shoot lasts around 1.5 hours, but I don’t put a time limit on the shoot. I believe in capturing the perfect moments, so we’ll keep shooting until we feel like we’ve got a collection of amazing images you’ll love.

What should we wear for our shoot?

Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident. Neutral or earthy tones work great in natural outdoor settings, but feel free to choose outfits that reflect your personalities. If you’re unsure, I’m happy to provide suggestions!

Do you provide photos for both proposal and engagement sessions?

Yes, I recommend doing both! After capturing the magical moment of your proposal, we can follow it up with an engagement session to capture the joy and love you share. It's the perfect way to document your journey together.

What happens if it rains on the day of our shoot?

The weather in the Lake District can be unpredictable, but I’m prepared for all conditions. If rain is forecast, I’ll work with you to either reschedule the shoot or make sure we have a backup plan with indoor locations or umbrellas.

Do we need to bring anything special to the shoot?

The most important thing is bringing your excitement and love for each other! If you’d like to include any personal items, such as flowers, engagement rings, or props that reflect your relationship, feel free to bring them along.

Will you travel to other locations in the Lake District?

Absolutely! I’m familiar with various beautiful spots across the Lake District and am happy to travel to locations that hold special meaning to you, or I can suggest the perfect spots based on your preferences.

When will we receive our photos?

You’ll receive your final gallery within 1 week after the shoot (at peak times this may be longer). I’ll provide a sneak peek of a few images before that, so you don’t have to wait too long to see the magic!

Can we print our photos?

Yes! I offer a selection of high-quality print options, and I’m more than happy to provide guidance on how to print your photos in the best possible way. I also provide you with an online gallery to view, share and download the images from.
